Root canal is a procedure to remove pulp tissue (inflamed or necrotic, if pulp tissue is deemed healthy although exposed pulp capping or pulpotomy can be tried) A picture above belongs to a patient who didn’t even realize she had infection of tooth. Upon examination, there was pus discharge from gum and x-ray showed large radiolucent (dark due to bone resorption) at root tip. Root canal is performed and after 8 months post-op x-ray shows clear sign of healing bone.
